Michel Gondry, sobre la utopía
Tus películas frecuentemente tienen elementos utópicos en ellas ¿Crees en la utopía?
Sí. De hecho tengo prueba de ello, porque he tratado sistemas que se suponía no funcionarían pero lo hicieron. Por ejemplo, mi madre era muy adicta a la Codeina, que es como el opio pero lo puedes conseguir en algunas medicinas sin prescripción. Ella era adicta hasta el punto que iba a morir. Entonces un día fui a su farmaceuta y le mostré una fotografía de mi mamá y le dije que no podía venderle de nuevo esas drogas. La farmaceuta me dijo que es ilegal no venderle este producto porque no necesitas prescripción. Entonces le dije: "Bien, entonces ella morirá y tú serás responsable por ello." Ella se sintió culpable y dejó de venderle. Eso fue suficiente para detener a mi mamá; ni siquiera tuve que ir a otras farmacias. Nos salimos del sistema. La gente cree que no estamos en posición de crear un sistema, pero yo creo que eso es falso. Todos pueden crear un sistema que funciona.
Your movies often have utopian elements in them. Do you believe in utopia?
Yes. I actually have proof of that, because I tried systems that were not supposed to work but they did. For example my mother was very badly addicted to Codein, which is like opium but you can find it in some over the counter medicines. She was addicted to the point that she was going to die. So I went to her pharmacist and showed her a picture of my mom and told her that she can’t sell these drugs to her anymore. The pharmacist told me that it is illegal not to sell this product to her because you don’t need a prescription. So I told her: “Fine so she will be dead and you will be responsible for it.” She felt guilty and stopped selling it to her. That was enough to stop my mom I didn’t even have to go to other pharmacies. We walked out of the system. People think that we are not in position to create a system but I think that is wrong. Everybody can create a system that works.

TRIP: Video de seguridad de Virgin Atlantic
La agencia Art & Graft desarrolló para la aerolínea inglesa Virgin Atlantic un video de seguridad para capturar la atención de sus usuarios y acabar con el aburrimiento de los viejos videos ochenteros que realmente nadie ve.
De hecho, utilizan esto como parte de la trama del video, en la que uno de sus usuarios cae en un profundo sueño antes de iniciar el vuelo y su subconsciente recrea oníricamente las instrucciones de seguridad que dicta la aeromoza.
Inspirado en el cine clásico y películas de culto, el personaje principal se trasporta en sus sueños a un Western, una película noir, una persecusión policial a máxima velocidad, una escena psicodélica y un fragmento a lo James Bond; sí, todas referencias inglesas ¡Genios!
De hecho, utilizan esto como parte de la trama del video, en la que uno de sus usuarios cae en un profundo sueño antes de iniciar el vuelo y su subconsciente recrea oníricamente las instrucciones de seguridad que dicta la aeromoza.
